Can you believe it is 2024 already?! Have you been making New Year’s resolutions with your dog?
Perhaps mine should be to get more organised and get my blogs written more frequently, since my last blog post was in October! My goodness may time has flown by.
The end of 2023 was really busy for the Nose to Trail team. With Hannah (Rehab trainer) and Mel (Puppy specialist) both running numerous body language basics walks, one to one training sessions, and reducing reactivity group classes. We saw a huge number of dogs compared to in 2022 when it was just me, little old Rachel running the entire thing by myself.
I am delighted that in 2024 Hannah and Mel are going to continue with their Nose to Trail work and will be running more sessions throughout the year. Hannah’s sessions for reactivity are already filling up rapidly so make sure you join our WhatsApp group to get told when the next spaces are free: https://chat.whatsapp.com/GRxmP6xJMGaEFwukp8WW4A
Mel has lots of spaces for new puppy clients so if you got a new family member this Christmas why not get in touch and got booked in with her today. Regardless of the age of your dog, or how long they’ve been with you there is no time like the present to start getting on with your training.
It may seem cliché but it really is a chance for a new year new dog. Not an actual new dog! (unless you’re in the process of adopting or welcoming a new puppy to the family) but time to work on those training problems. That pulling on the lead, the jumping up at visitors, the barking when the doorbell rings. Those problem behaviours that have annoyed you for months, perhaps even years but you’ve just never got round to working on and doing the training with your dog. We’re here to help!
Even if you can’t train at traditional times and you’re not available Monday to Friday because you’re busy at work, that does not matter. We have team members who can run sessions for you on the weekend, Hannah’s reducing reactivity classes on the weekends do fill up in advance though, so make sure you book in advance.
But the other option is to consider joining the Nose to Trail membership. The membership contains a private section of the Nose to Trail website where you can access guides and articles written by me, Rachel Rodgers, a Clinical Animal Behaviourist with over 10 years experience. I have spent the last few years collating this library and writing these handouts, so that you can have the advice that I give out to clients face to face at the touch of your fingertips, any time – day or night.
Alongside this the membership also gets the opportunity to meet live on zoom twice a month. Each month we have what we call a coffee morning session these are surprisingly…… in the morning! Usually 8 till 9:00 AM one weekday morning in the month where you can meet me, on zoom and talk about your dog training progress. It’s a safe place to ask questions about what your dog is doing, and how to work on it.
If the early mornings aren’t your thing and you are welcome to join the coffee morning in your pyjamas with a cup of coffee! Then perhaps the evening Q&A will work better for you. These are typically on a Monday evening 7 till 8:00 PM. A group of us meet on zoom and again it’s an opportunity to ask questions. If you’re stuck with part of your training bring it to the session talk about it with the group and together we will help find solutions or point you to the right handouts on the members area for you to work on.
When you first join the membership whether it’s for a month or whether it’s for the year you can also access the recordings of previous webinars that I have delivered live to other clients previously. These are a great starting point for anybody who is struggling with their dog’s behaviour. Typically the dog body language webinar is the session that most people will benefit from as the vast majority of our problems come from a simply not understanding what our dogs are trying to communicate with us. So what are you waiting for, don’t start the year with blue Monday and feeling miserable about these dark nights and horrific weather! Head to the membership pages now join up maybe even just for the month and start working through your dogs problems. Trust me it’ll be worth it.
